Summary

Agent Kit Morris。 Has a nice ring, doesn't it?

It's a big step up from "wanted criminal" or "that weird con-artist guy with weirder psychic powers"—both of which recently applied to me。 But my promotion to MagiPol agent comes with a few drawbacks。

First, supremely talented and effortlessly gorgeous Agent Lienna Shen won't agree to a dinner date with me。 Second, my new assignment has pitted me against a guild with very bad taste in pets。 Third, those pets are demons, and those demons want to kill me。

My psychic magic is great for conning people。 It doesn't do jack shit against hellish orcs。 If I screw this up, my dinner date will be with a demon—and I'll be the dinner。 Even better, I kind of suspect this supposedly straightforward assignment is actually the tip of an unholy iceberg of power-hungry malefactors bent on destroying all law and order in the city。

I should probably mention that part to my boss。

Fun readI enjoyed this book and truly like the character you created in Kit。 He is fun, has his heart in the right place, and likes to buck the rules at times。 I look forward to the next book。

Kit is a favorite of mine so I may be a little biased when it comes to his series。 All his pop culture references & sarcasm make him who he is。 Aside from hi super cool reality warping。 I can’t wait to see where he gets with that。 Lienna is a badass, as always。 She & Kit work well together。 Kit is struggling to become a full fledged MPD Agent & Lienna is being pulled back to L。A。 unless she can accomplish a mission having to do with Demon Guilds & Rogue Guilds。 She & Kit work together to accompl Kit is a favorite of mine so I may be a little biased when it comes to his series。 All his pop culture references & sarcasm make him who he is。 Aside from hi super cool reality warping。 I can’t wait to see where he gets with that。 Lienna is a badass, as always。 She & Kit work well together。 Kit is struggling to become a full fledged MPD Agent & Lienna is being pulled back to L。A。 unless she can accomplish a mission having to do with Demon Guilds & Rogue Guilds。 She & Kit work together to accomplish the mission so she can stay。 There is a lot of action & a few sweet moments。 It’s a wild ride & I recommend it。 。。。more

This fell very flat for me。 - Kit's humour felt repetitive and is still as cringey as ever。- I feel as if there is no real development for either Kit or Lienna。 This fell very flat for me。 - Kit's humour felt repetitive and is still as cringey as ever。- I feel as if there is no real development for either Kit or Lienna。 。。。more

Kit Morris: Warp Master Extraordinaire!Annette Marie and Rob Jacobson have created one of my absolute favorite characters, in Kit Morris。 A wonderfully funny and creative duo, they have meshed mystical and memorable, by providing us with a character who is someone I absolutely want to meet snd spend time with。 In Hellbound Guilds & Other Misdirections (The Guild Codex: Warped Book 2) we are entertained by Kit’s hysterical responses and reactions to his lady partner, Lienna, his MagiPol teammates Kit Morris: Warp Master Extraordinaire!Annette Marie and Rob Jacobson have created one of my absolute favorite characters, in Kit Morris。 A wonderfully funny and creative duo, they have meshed mystical and memorable, by providing us with a character who is someone I absolutely want to meet snd spend time with。 In Hellbound Guilds & Other Misdirections (The Guild Codex: Warped Book 2) we are entertained by Kit’s hysterical responses and reactions to his lady partner, Lienna, his MagiPol teammates, and the fantastically dangerous psychic magic he uses to impress, in an attempt to become ‘Agent Kit Morris。’I found myself laughing out loud at Kit’s verbal references to current and obscure television, The Office; movie: Die Hard, and musical blathering, during the most dire of times。Do not get me wrong! This book, and series, is an intricately woven mystery, that includes sleuthing to the highest degree。 It is action and fantasy, romance (not enough for Kit) danger and delusion。 But, the stress of intensely reading this clever combo’s creation, is relieved by the humor, disbursed by Kit。 Who else could conjure, Maniacal Mage 2: Electric Boogaloo, into a manuscript? lolI LOVED THIS BOOK! 。。。more

So good。 So so good。Honestly, at this point I’m not sure if Annette Marie can write a book that disappoints me。 I love how she manages to imagine completely different characters, and completely different plot lines that somehow still intertwine, and series that can be read on their own yet still get even better when you KNOW from reading another of her books why some things are the way they are。 Like for example that an illegally contacted demon won’t be fooled by “Split Kit” because it sees the So good。 So so good。Honestly, at this point I’m not sure if Annette Marie can write a book that disappoints me。 I love how she manages to imagine completely different characters, and completely different plot lines that somehow still intertwine, and series that can be read on their own yet still get even better when you KNOW from reading another of her books why some things are the way they are。 Like for example that an illegally contacted demon won’t be fooled by “Split Kit” because it sees the body warmth。 Or that Darius can sneak up on Kit and Lienna not because they’re inattentive, but because he’s a luminae mage。I loved seeing Tori again, even if only briefly。 And having Robin and her sudden demon-skill mentioned made me want to reread the entire Demonized books, because I miss Zylas。I won’t spoil the plot from this book, I’ll only gush about how I love Kit’s self deprecating sarcasm, about his crush on Lienna, and the action scenes that had me holding my breath again。I’m sure I’ll get the audiobook once it’s released and re-listen to everything once it’s out。 If you’re new to the whole Guild Codex world and you want a really good urban fantasy series that will suck you in - go for it。 You can start with either series (Spellbound and Demonized are already finished, this one is ongoing, but without any cliffhangers at the end of each book)。4。5 mind-warping stars! 。。。more

An absolute delight!Kit hooked me in this one! His whimsy attitude is so refreshing and relatable。 Reading the entire story I could literally imagine it all like a show in my head。 Another perfect story from A。M。

FunnyThis is a well written romp, featuring a male protagonist, which is a different look for this universe。 Is well done and flat out funny in many places, even though there is still the underlying crime aspect and occasional serious tone。

It just keeps getting better and better。 Warped just might be my favorite series in The Guild Codex universe。

Full of adventure I really enjoyed this book, in which Kit goes above and beyond。 Lots of good action and story-telling。 It's a lot of fun watching Kit grow and develop as an agent of the MPD。 It's also fun watching Kit and Lienna dance around their mutual attraction。 I love this world and the way the author weaves the characters together。 Full of adventure I really enjoyed this book, in which Kit goes above and beyond。 Lots of good action and story-telling。 It's a lot of fun watching Kit grow and develop as an agent of the MPD。 It's also fun watching Kit and Lienna dance around their mutual attraction。 I love this world and the way the author weaves the characters together。 。。。more

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I love everything about this book, I can’t wait for the 3rd and final book of this series! Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down。

Love this continuation of the Guilds, and the insight into the other, bureaucratic, law-abiding side of the equation。 The author does a good job overall of dancing with uncomfortable lines (not a huge fan of writing about demons), has a fantastic sense of humor, and gets her characters into a lot of trouble。 I recommend both Guild series overall, but recommend reading the Spellbound series first or it might not make as much sense。

Liwayway

The Warped series has a slightly different vibe than the other stories in the Guild Codex。 It’s got the same awesome, fun, and adventurous cast of characters, as well as beloved characters from the other stories that I’m totally here for, and it’s got an action-packed plot and subtle mystery to it。 But it’s also got a distinct quirk the others don’t have a lot of。 Perhaps it’s Kit。 Perhaps it’s the dynamic in the Magipol world。 Not sure。 But I’m really happy to continue reading in this universe。

4。5 Stars。。。 This was just pure fun from start to finish。。。 I love how Annette Marie crosses over her series and characters incorporating different POVs and an almost behind the scenes aspect to her reads。。。 Kit and Lienna absolutely crack me up; they compliment one another perfectly with a scorching chemistry to add the sparks。。。 Fast paced and action packed; a summer must read for sure:)

It kinda got unnecessarily complicated really quickly, and then it felt like 2 different mysteries but then it simplified and then it wrapped up nicely and all the bits made sense and were totally necessary。 I don’t know why I questioned them!?!?! Great book。 I loved that, as 2 rookies, they had self doubt and stumbled around and got help from others。 Though I felt sorry for poor Vinny, the spider!!

LovedThis book was great。 I found myself snickering at some of the things Kit said in this book。 Love how it interweaves with Annette Marie’s other series。 Definitely counting down to the next book。

Series Info/Source: This is the 2nd book in the Guild Codex: Warped series。 I borrowed this book for my Kindle through Kindle Unlimited。Story (4/5): Kit Morris is still working behind the desk and hasn’t passed his test to become a full agent。 Then when Agent Shen is tasked with figuring out what is going on with a demonic guild, Kit decides to help her out。 They both end up embroiled in a demonic plot that could threaten the stability of the city。 This was a decent story, I am a bit burnt out o Series Info/Source: This is the 2nd book in the Guild Codex: Warped series。 I borrowed this book for my Kindle through Kindle Unlimited。Story (4/5): Kit Morris is still working behind the desk and hasn’t passed his test to become a full agent。 Then when Agent Shen is tasked with figuring out what is going on with a demonic guild, Kit decides to help her out。 They both end up embroiled in a demonic plot that could threaten the stability of the city。 This was a decent story, I am a bit burnt out on all these storylines around the demonic guilds but this was okay。 This story just didn’t grab me the way the books in the other Guild Codex series do。 However, it does fill out some of the background and events for other series in this world so I didn’t mind reading it。Characters (3/5): Kit always seems like a character I should like; witty, a bit morally grey, and eager to embrace adventure。 Unfortunately, I just don’t find him that engaging。 I think he is just lacking a bit too much confidence, is a bit too self-deprecating, and just a bit too incompetent for me to truly love him。 All the characters in this series feel shallow to me。 This is super weird because usually characterization is one of Marie’s strong points; I can only assume it is the influence of the co-author of the series that had these characters feeling a bit lackluster to me…。they just don’t have the rich history and depth that Marie’s characters usually have。Setting (4/5): The setting is the same as always for this series, it’s fine but not the point of the story。 It is interesting to see things from MagiPol’s perspective rather than a Guild’s perspective。 I do like the idea of Kit’s mind-warping magic but it doesn’t seem to follow a very clear magic system and isn’t consistent throughout the book。Writing Style (3/5): The whole time I was reading this I was wondering how much Annette Marie actually contributed to the writing of the book and how much was Jacobsen。 I am wondering if Marie’s main contribution is the world this is set in。 This book (and the series as a whole) just doesn’t have the same style, it doesn’t grab me and pull me into the story。 I constantly found myself reading a chapter and putting it down and going to do something else。 I just didn’t really get involved with the characters or the story。 It was all okay。 The setting is okay, the characters are okay, the story is okay and the action scenes are okay。 Usually I absolutely love the characters and the action scenes in Marie’s books but this one just left me feeling a bit bored and cold。。。it was。。。okay。 I am not sure I will continue on with this series。My Summary (3。5/5): Overall this book, like the first book in this series, was a bit of a let down。 This just isn’t as engaging of a read as other Guild Codex series。 The characters feel shallow and the story kind of just goes through the motions。 The action scenes don’t leave me breathless but instead leave me skimming pages quickly。 I don’t grip tightly onto the sides of my Kindle desperate to know what will happen next, but constantly put the book down and wander away to do something more exciting。。。like laundry。 It’s okay but not up to the caliber of the other Guild Codex series and I probably won’t continue to read the Guild Codex: Warped series。 。。。more

Kit Morris is back and he's。。。well, he's in the middle of a bit of a tangle。 With some shady goings-on popping up on the MPD radar (or at least on the captain's radar) and things a little dicey about Lienna's future in the city (something Kit is NOT okay with since Lienna's kinda a MPD bad-booty), Kit has to use his big brain (and substantial abilities) to try to get to the bottom of everything。Which isn't easy, btw。 Lienna's trying to keep her problems quiet and the Guild playing with demons is Kit Morris is back and he's。。。well, he's in the middle of a bit of a tangle。 With some shady goings-on popping up on the MPD radar (or at least on the captain's radar) and things a little dicey about Lienna's future in the city (something Kit is NOT okay with since Lienna's kinda a MPD bad-booty), Kit has to use his big brain (and substantial abilities) to try to get to the bottom of everything。Which isn't easy, btw。 Lienna's trying to keep her problems quiet and the Guild playing with demons is, well, a hot mess of epic proportions。 Because demons。 Demons with questionable contracts。 Demons who aren't fooled by Kit's illusions and warping abilities。Yeah, so Kit and Lienna are working on a dangerous case with little backup, a load of family issues Lienna is keeping close to the vest, and demons, demons, demons。 Throw in how the Guilds rally around their own and things look a little bleak for the guy who can't quite pass his agent exam and the lady who will push herself hard to get a job done。Am I digging these MPD agents? YOU BET I AM。 Kit and Lienna are a solid team and I kind of love them together。 Now Lienna has to get past her hang-ups about interoffice dating and all will be well in the world。-Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal 。。。more
